Cash rains down right on time for Digicel customers
While the grand prize in the Digicel Bring the Beat promotion is a brand new Hyundai Tucson and a Hyundai Creta, the telecommunications firm believes it is the weekly cash prize of $10,000 that seems to be the favourite of those who enter.
"I would really like to win the car, but this money is going to do so much for me right now. I have my daughter to send back to school, so this is a real blessing in disguise," said Kenesha Bennett, one of the winners from week three of the competition.
Likewise, Asha Gayle Edwards from Riversdale,
St Catherine, said: "Times hard right now. The amount of things I'm going to stretch this money to do. I have several outstanding bills to clear off. I didn't even know how I was going to make it work, so this winning is a blessing."
The sentiment runs similar for the other 28 winners selected so far.
Every week, 15 customers win $10,000 each, making it a pool of $1.2 million to be won over the eight-week promotion.
Explaining the reasoning behind the cash prize, Michelle Anderson, Digicel director of distribution and retail channels, said: "With the kids at home and the upcoming school term, we know that expenses will run high for our customers. Therefore, we wanted the prizes in our promotion to give real value to our customers."
She added: "Best of all, we wanted to ensure that to enter, customers simply had to do things they normally do on their Digicel phones, that is, top up, activate a data plan or talk on their phone."
The Digicel Bring the Beat promotion will end on August 18. In addition to the grand prize of the Hyundai Creta and Tucson and the cash prizes, customers can also win call credit, smartphones and data plans.
