Accountants body hails Jarrett as distinguished member
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) has selected General Manager of the Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) as the 2016 ICAJ distinguished member awardee.
The award seeks to recognise a member who has contributed, through his or her achievements, to the prestige and status of the Institute and has made significant contributions to the development of the accountancy profession.
It will be presented at the ICAJ's annual awards banquet on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston.
"We are extremely proud to recognise Earl Jarrett for enhancing the prestige and status of the accountancy profession and the ICAJ, through his outstanding corporate achievements and his selfless social contributions", said Bruce Scott, President, ICAJ.
Jarrett is also a member of JNBS’ board of directors and a director of all its local and overseas subsidiaries, as well as the JNBS Foundation.
He is a Fellow and a former council member of the ICAJ and has also served as member of the ICAJ's current affairs committee.
Jarrett serves as an executive on the boards of several international, regional and local organisations.
He serves as chairman of the Caribbean Association of Housing Finance Institutions, Jamaica Cancer Society, Jamaican Diaspora Foundation and Mona GeoInformatics Institute, a director of The Gleaner Company's UK and North American boards and Edna Manley College Arts Foundation, a trustee at the Dudley Grant Memorial Trust and the YWCA Trust; Trustee Member, FIA Foundation Region 2; and a member of the National Council of Jamaica, Order of St John and the University of the West Indies Mona Campus Council.
He has received numerous accolades locally and from organisations overseas for his contribution to the community, the nation and the Jamaican Disapora.
In 2008, Jarrett received the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander from the government of Jamaica for service to the financial sector.
