The University and Allied Workers Union (UAWU) says it is awaiting word from the managing director of the Jamaica Urban Transit company (JUTC) following their meeting yesterday afternoon.

The meeting came on the heels of a strike by bus drivers last Friday in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The drivers were reportedly protesting the firing of almost a dozen of their colleagues who the company claims were in breach of JUTC rules.

Speaking with The Gleaner/Power 106 News Centre this morning, first vice-president of the UAWU, Clifton Grant, refused to give details of the meeting saying he did not want to affect the decision-making process.
