Dr Winston De La Haye says challenges obtaining the medication have been resolved and people are now able to access them.

Acting Chief Medical Officer in the Ministry of Health Dr Winston De La Haye says medication for adults who are HIV positive is now available in public pharmacies.

Over the past few weeks there have been reports of a shortage of HIV medication in Jamaica and that people trying to access it through the public service have been unable to do so.

However, De La Haye says challenges obtaining the medication have been resolved and people are now able to access them.

He says another shipment of medication is expected to arrive within a week which will provide the country with a supply to last until December.

De La Haye says the ministry will be working to prevent a repeat of the shortage.
