Gomes welcomes Belize court ruling on law punishing homosexuality
Dr Carolyn Gomes, the Executive Director of the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition, has welcomed the ruling of the Belize court that the country's law punishing homosexuality is unconstitutional.
Gomes says the ruling will have positive implications for gay men in Belize and the wider region.
She notes that the court’s ruling reaffirms the human rights of gay men.
The CVC executive director says the court ruling will have implications for Jamaica.
Gomes says she hopes the ruling will foster greater tolerance for members of the gay community, stressing that all persons are born equal in dignity and rights.
