Chinese charged with trademark breach

Lawmen attached to the Manchester Division carried out a special operation on Manchester Road, Manchester, where they seized more than 100 bottles of counterfeit rum on Wednesday. One woman was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure.

She is 29-year-old Jinru Huang, a Chinese national residing in the parish. Huang was charged with unauthorised use of trademark and illegal possession of excisable goods.

Reports are that between the hours of 3 and 5 a.m., a special operation was carried out when the 198 bottles of counterfeit rum were seized from Huang's place of business.

She was subsequently charged and offered bail in the sum of $250,000. Huang is to appear before the Manchester Parish Court on August 31.
