Scores of Caribbean youths will gather today for the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Christian Youth Convention.

The biennial convention sees the coming together and fellowship among youth, both young and young at heart, from Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Guyana, and Jamaica.

According to the organisers, the theme: 'After The Shaking, The Awakening', is one which was given much thought, and was selected based on the current occurrences in our world.

"Daily, we are experiencing, whether personally or through the media, a changing world [and] a more savage way of handling situations. As such, we believe that this theme is relevant and will help us in awakening a deeper connection with our Saviour," said a release from the youth leaders.

The convention site will be on the grounds of the Constant Spring Church of Christ, 2 Mannings Avenue, Kingston 8.

The week will be filled with a series of activities, including workshops, worship, and island fiestas - a cultural exchange of food, games and entertainment.

A youth forum is to be held tomorrow and a banquet on Friday.
