The Police say last night’s shooting which left four hospitalised is a result of ongoing gang violence between persons from Denham Town and Tivoli Gardens.

Reports are that around 8 o'clock, persons were standing at a popular hangout spot at the intersection of Wellington Street and Tulip Lane in Denham Town, when assailants opened fire on them.

Three men and a woman were shot in the incident.

They were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where they were reportedly admitted in stable condition.

Speaking with The Gleaner/ Power 106 News Centre this morning, head of the Kingston Western Police Division, Superintendent Howard Chambers, said the police have reason to believe the shooting was carried out by members of a gang in Tivoli Gardens.

He says over the weekend, there was a flare-up between the gangs, which he says disturbed the peace which has been maintained over the past few months.

Chambers says the police have increased their presence in the area.
