UPDATE: Lasco reaching out to McLeod, says tweet was a shocker
Lasco Distributors Limited, says it is reaching out to 110-metre hurdler Omar McLeod to seek to make amends for an inappropriate tweet from its Twitter account following the athletes gold medal performance last night in Rio.
Lasco faced backlash over the tweet with even opposition leader, Portia Simpson Miller, speaking on the matter via her Twitter account.
This morning, Lasco said it immediately fired the employee who made the tweet as it was a violation of the company’s code of conduct.
Speaking on Cliff Hughes Online on Power 106 FM, Chairman of Lasco, Lascelles Chin, said the tweet came as a shocker and the Company would seek to do whatever it takes to make amends.
The company had initially issued a statement saying its account was compromised.
However, Lasco’s deputy executive chairman, Peter Chin, today informed that the account was not hacked:
Lasco says it will be reviewing its social media procedures.
