One person is now in custody in connection with the shooting deaths of three persons on Lincoln Crescent, St Andrew on Tuesday.

Head of the Kingston West Police Division, Superintendent Howard Chambers says the person was taken in for questioning after the police received statements in relation to the shootings.

Chambers says the police are using the information received to conduct pursuit operations to detain others who may be involved.

He says a comprehensive list of persons of interest is being prepared and should be released later today.

In the meantime, Chambers says the heightened gang violence in the division is as a result of turf war.

Meanwhile, Chambers says the police are working in tandem with the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) as they occupy the area in an attempt to try to contain crime.

He says emphasis must also be placed on the importance of community policing.

Over the past few weeks there has been a rise in shooting incidents in the division leading to the death of three people and the hospitalisation of several others.
