Jamaica's women have won the silver in the 4x100m relays at the Rio Games.

The team of  Christania Williams, Elaine Thompson, Veronica Campbell-Brown and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finished with a season's best 41.36 behind the United States who won the race in 41.01.

There was a major fumble between first leg runner Christania Williams and Olympic sprint double Elaine Thompson which caused the Jamaicans to fall behind the United States.

The third leg runner Veronica Campbell and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce brought the Jamaicans back into the race but this was too late as the United States sprinted to the victory.

Great Britain finished third in 41.77.
