MAY PEN, Clarendon:

Teemars Spencer-Aitken will never get tired of testifying about how good God has been to her. She says that had it not been for his grace and mercy, life would have been much different than she knows it today.

She got saved at eight years old because she knew since then that God had a calling on her life and that he wanted to use her to be an example to others.

However, this decision was not without harsh judgement from naysayers. "Criticisms came from people both in and out of the church. They doubted my choice to become a Christian and to begin my journey towards salvation with the Lord, but I held firm to my belief because I know the God I serve," she told Family and Religion.

"I had nights when I just cried because of what people would say about me as a young Christian. 'Watch di likkle pickney! She no know weh she a talk say' is a popular phrase they would use regularly.

"The day I gave my heart to God, my life was transformed. I remember having challenges getting into college and, by the time I was about to leave, I asked the Lord for a job and I got it. Soon afterwards, I was proposed to get married and again I said, 'Lord, I need another job with a better salary because mi nah married and no have a good job'. And, of course, God-being the faithful God he is, granted my request and the summer before I got married, there came my job," she explained.

GOD'S FAVOUR

She now boasts how much God favours her because since then (five years ago), she has not been out of a job.

Now 31 years old, Teemars is still in tune with her faith and is spreading the word through her ministry. She is the founder and managing director of a non-profitable organisation called Sing Praise Outreach Ministry.

"My parents, the Reverend Arthur and Joycelyn Spencer, are the founders of the Sing Praise Gospel Band and because I wanted to carry on the Sing Praise name, I decided to use the same for my outreach ministry." She added that the outreach helps individuals with special needs as well as their families. Teemars is encouraging persons to visit the facebook page 'Sing Praise Outreach Ministry' for more information.

"I just want young people to know that you can fulfill all your desires in Christ and whatever dreams you have, you can also achieve them in Christ. I got a husband, a child, a good job, an outreach ministry, and so much more, and it's all because God favours me. I live by the saying: 'If the Lord takes you to it, he will take you through it."

Teemars says the best part of her Christian walk is that she is able to tell others about Christ and to testify of his goodness to the world."God is the only answer to your cry, your pain and your emptiness. seek him today," she said.
