Portmore to get mega pharmacy

A new Independence City Pharmacy, scheduled to be built next year, will break record as it is earmarked to be the largest pharmacy to be built in Portmore, St Catherine.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new pharmacy, which took place recently, saw the building being dubbed as a mega pharmacy by owners Aubrey Chang and Juliet Kossally-Chang. Boasting a 7,000 square feet layout to accommodate the widest variety of goods, the pharmacy will see many unique services, as well as computer labs, printing services, and even photo and repair services.

"Aside from our wide variety of products and reliable consistency in medication stock, we will be incorporating a cybercentre into the framework of our model, as well as a plethora of other things to better serve Portmore residents," indicated Chang.

Independence City Pharmacy opened to the public 15 years ago at its current location at shops 1&4 in the Independence City Plaza, and, according to Kossally-Chang, it was only a matter of time before their hard work would bring them to their true goals of better serving the community.

"It wasn't easy. We negotiated for these two adjoining lots for some time, and we worked 12 hours per day, almost every day for years. We struggled and we stayed on course and budget, and acquired. So finally, we are doing it." said Kossally-Chang.
