Soldier shot dead foiling robbery in Cross Roads, attacker killed too

The JDF soldier has been identified as 31-year-old Lance Corporal Ricardo Bennett of Summerset Avenue in Manchester.

Jamaica Defence Force soldier was last night shot dead by gunmen in Cross Roads, St Andrew as he tried to foil a robbery.

He has been identified as 31-year-old Lance Corporal Ricardo Bennett of Summerset Avenue in Manchester.

One of the gunmen was also killed but is yet to be identified.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) reports that about 10 o’clock Lance Corporal Bennett was in a barbershop when three men entered and open fire hitting him.

CCU says he returned fire hitting one of the attackers.

The soldier and the injured gunman were taken to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.
