3 men arrested after over 1,500lbs of ganja found during search of bus, cars

Three men have been arrested for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act following an operation by the Narcotics Division in Adelphi, St James yesterday.

The police say about 11:00 last night, a Coaster bus and two motor cars were stopped and searched. Three hundred parcels containing compressed ganja and 20 knitted bags with 1,560 pounds of ganja were found.

The identities of the men are being withheld pending further investigations.

The drugs are suspected to be part of the drugs-for-guns trade and has an estimated street value of J$9.3 million.

The men are to be interviewed in the presence of their attorneys before formal charges are laid.
