A policeman who is alleged to have fraudulently misused the government's Gas Advance Card system is to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court today.

District Constable Vaughn Green, who was attached to the National Police College of Jamaica, was on Friday charged by detectives from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency.

Green is charged with nine counts of fraudulent conversion and diversion of government property.

It is alleged that between September and October 2014 the policeman fleeced approximately $60,000 from a Gas Advance Card for a vehicle which was out of service and being repaired at the Transport Management and Maintenance Division.

According to the police, Green’s supervisor was informed that the card was being used while the vehicle was out of service.

The police say the accused was subsequently informed of the allegations and he admitted to using the Gas Advance Card to obtain money and petrol for his personal use.
