Arthur Williams tipped for IDB post in Washington

Former senator Arthur Williams is tipped to be named Jamaica’s representative to the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in Washington DC.

Williams, an attorney-at-law is a long time member of the governing Jamaica Labour Party.

He gained increased attention in the last parliamentary term as a senator when then Opposition Leader Andrew Holness submitted his undated pre-signed resignation letter to the Governor General.

Williams took the matter to court and won and returned to the Senate after being out for several months.

Meanwhile, former Jamaican Consul General to Canada George Ramocan is tipped to be named Jamaica’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Initially, there was speculation that Williams would have been dispatched to London.
