No plans to close Falmouth market, says mayor

Mayor of Falmouth Garth Wilkinson is dispelling rumours that the new Falmouth Market in Trelawny will be abandoned because it is easily flooded.

The structure, which has been under construction for a number of years, is affected whenever it rains heavily.

However, Wilkinson says it is the entrance of the market that is usually flooded and work is being done to resolve that issue.

Wilkinson has also sought to assure that the market will be ready by December to accommodate customers and vendors who will travel to Falmouth during the Christmas period.
