Jailbreak update: One of nine escapees nabbed
One of the nine men who escaped from the Denham Town lock-up in Kingston yesterday is now back in police custody following his recapture this morning in Manchester.
He is 19-year-old Oshane Morgan otherwise called Grey Beard of Oxford Street in Denham Town.
The police say Morgan was nabbed at the Nashville Bus Park in Mandeville during an operation in the area.
Morgan who was being charged with robbery and illegal possession of firearm will be additionally charged with escaping custody.
It is reported that the other eight escapees are still at large.
They include 23-year-old Theodore Lawrence otherwise called Theo, 23-year-old Alex Bailey and 31-year old Ian McBean otherwise called Pipe, who were charged with murder.
Also still on the run are 26-year-old Kevin Thomas also called Tatan, 22-year-old Richard Richardson charged with shooting with intent, 23-year-old Stephen Burke also called Luscious who was charged with malicious destruction of property and assaulting police.
The others are 33-year-old Donnovan Allen otherwise called Bitter who was charged with robbery with aggravation and 19-year-old George Ballentine who was charged with murder and illegal possession of firearm.
Ballentine is one of the men who was charged with the December murder of a Jamaica Urban Transit Corporation bus driver, Albert Barnes.
Reports are that the men were discovered to be missing during a routine cell check yesterday morning.
They reportedly escaped by cutting through a ventilation grille.
The Police are urging the escapees to turn themselves in and are reminding family members and residents that it is an offence to harbour a fugitive.
