A Portland man who was on the run after he allegedly killed his girlfriend at Union in Hope Bay on Monday has turned himself in.

Lidley Samuels of a Toms Hope address in the Rio Grande Valley surrendered to the Port Antonio police yesterday afternoon after being on the run for two days.

He was accompanied by a family member, who told investigators that Samuels was confused by the incident and was contemplating suicide.

Reports are that the lifeless body of the woman was discovered by one of her sons who had gone to visit her shortly after 8:30 Monday evening.

The police were called to the scene where they later observed a wound to the woman’s head.

The couple was reportedly experiencing relationship problems.

Samuels is scheduled to be interrogated later today by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Branch in Port Antonio.
