Schoolboys walk along St James Street in Montego Bay, yesterday.

There are reports that some parents in crime plagued communities have pulled their children from school because of the ongoing violence.

Some parents also say they and their children are fearful about further violence in their communities.

Of the 199 people murdered in St James since the start of the year, 15 were in the past two weeks.

Several of the incidents have been drive by shootings with heavily armed men opening fire on groups of people gathered in their communities.
