MONTEGO BAY, St James:
St James last evening recorded its 199th murder since the start of the year when a man was shot dead in Irwin Heights late Monday evening.
His identity has not been released.
Residents are tight-lipped about the killing, which is believed to be a reprisal attack for an earlier shooting in a neighbouring community.
St James has been rocked by murders and other crimes in recent weeks.
On the weekend, law enforcement authorities increased the number of personnel on the ground and undertook a curfew in one community.
The rate of murders has quelled, but people continue to be the victims of major crimes.
