The St James murder tally since the start of the year has now hit the 200 mark, with the killing of a man in the heart of the capital, Montego Bay, early Tuesday evening.

The victim, who is yet to be identified, was shot dead shortly after 7 p.m. on Barnett Street.

The police are also yet to determine a motive for the killing.

Since Sunday, there has been increased police/military presence in Montego Bay, but this has not stopped the murders, with at least five persons killed after it was announced that more boots would be placed on the ground.
