Police Commissioner, Dr Carl Williams is to tour crime-ravaged sections of St James this afternoon.

After the tour, the commissioner is to hold a press conference to detail his latest anti-crime efforts in the parish which has now seen 200 murders since the start of the year.

In recent weeks, there have been several shootings across St James resulting in multiple fatalities and the injuring of several others.

They are calling for sustained police presence in the western parish.

There have been calls for the Government to call a state of emergency limited to St James to give the security force additional powers to combat murders in the bloody parish.

However, Prime Minister Andrew Holness has rejected the calls staying he’s confident that the security forces will manage the situation.
