Look out for police diverting traffic from Constant Spring Road, emergency roadwork continues

Head of the traffic division Superintendent Courtney Coubrie is urging motorists to look out for police personnel diverting traffic from Constant Spring Road in St Andrew to avoid extended delays in the area.

Constant Spring Road was closed last night after two gaping holes developed on the north and south-bound lanes, after a sewer main underneath the road surface collapsed.

Superintendent Coubrie says police personnel have been deployed to direct some of the traffic onto West Kings House road, as most persons have been using Red Hills Road and clogging that artery.

When the Constant Spring Road was ordered closed last night, many motorists reported that it took them hours to reach their destinations because of the huge traffic jam in the area.

Superintendent Coubrie says traffic in the area was delayed by about an hour.

Meanwhile, the National Works Agency (NWA) says the road work is now being undertaken to correct the damage done in the road.

NWA Communication Manager, Stephen Shaw says the affected sections of Constant Spring Road will remain closed for at least the next three days.
