Customs Agency makes plans to speed up shipment processing this Christmas
The Jamaica Customs Agency says it has begun preparations to deal with the expected increase in imported items at the island’s air and sea ports this Christmas.
As part of the efforts to speed up the processing of goods imported for the holidays, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Jamaica Customs Agency Karlene Henry says additional staff will be deployed at all ports.
Henry says plans are also in place to increase the number of customer service agents available to assist with queries from customers and for extended opening hours on weekdays and weekends.
The measures are to take effect during the first week of December.
Henry was speaking at the annual customs seminar hosted by the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce recently.
