The Prime Minister’s wife, Juliet Holness, is to leave Jamaica today to participate in the Regional Partnership for Children with Disabilities Conference, to be held in Belize from October 13-14.

The Jamaica Information Service (JIS) says the invitation to the conference was extended to Holness by the wife of the Prime Minister of Belize and Special Envoy for Women and Children, Kim Simplis Barrow.

The conference will be held under the theme ‘Breaking Barriers for an Inclusive Society and Empowerment for Children with Disabilities’.

It will highlight issues affecting children with disabilities and seek the commitment of participating countries and organisations to work towards making this a cross-cutting issue among governments, civil society, and the private sector.

It will also bring together regional partners to exchange best practices and experiences and allow for a recommitment to the Convention on the Rights of Persons Living with Disabilities.

The JIS says the trip is sponsored by the Belizean Government.
