Member of Parliament for the crime-torn St James north western constituency, Dr Horace Chang, is pleading for more investment in education, housing and public infrastructure in Montego Bay.

The North West St James MP says the lack of social services is fuelling crime in the parish.

He notes that the current systems cannot serve the growing population of informal settlers, itinerant workers and tourists.

Chang says while the increased police presence had resulted in no shots being fired in the second-city for five days, up to yesterday, the peace would not last without investment in infrastructure and social services.
