One in custody after four injured in Rum Lane shooting

One man is now in police custody in connection with a shooting in Kingston yesterday afternoon, which left four persons injured.

The police say about 3:45 p.m., a group of persons were sitting along Rum Lane when a motorcycle allegedly drove up with two men aboard.

The men opened gunfire at the group, hitting four persons including a woman.

They say quick action by officers on the scene led to the men being intercepted on Tower Street where they and the criminals engaged in a shootout, however, the criminals escaped in the area.

They further say investigations led the officers to a premises on Rosemary Lane, where one of the suspects was found with a gunshot wound. 

One Smith and Wesson pistol and four .40 cartridges were seized during the incident.

The injured persons were taken to hospital where one man was treated and released and the others, including the injured suspect admitted in stable conditions.

The matter was reported to the Inspectorate of Constabulary (IOC) as well as the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
