Illegal firearms seized in Manchester and Westmoreland

The police have seized two more illegal firearms.

The latest seizures came yesterday in separate incidents in Manchester and Westmoreland.

In the first incident, the Manchester Police report that a team was conducting spot checks in Dusanine district when they signalled the driver of a motor car to stop.

The police reported that they came under gunfire as the vehicle crashed in a nearby field and the occupants made their escape.

The police say a Taurus pistol was found during a search of the area.

In the second incident, the Sav-la-Mar Police report that revolver containing six rounds of ammunition was taken from a man during an operation in Hatfield district.

The police say the man's identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
