Smith out as Permanent Secretary at education ministry
Dr Maurice Smith has confirmed that he will be demitting office as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education next week.
Smith told our news centre that next Monday, October 31, will be his last day on the job.
He declined to state what prompted his sudden departure, having spent less than a year in the job.
However, it is understood that his contract was not renewed.
Smith was appointed Permanent Secretary in the education ministry in November 2015.
Before the appointment, Smith, a Fulbright Scholar, served as the Principal Director of the National College for Educational Leadership.
Attempts to get a comment from education minister, Ruel Reid, were unsuccessful.
