Sections of Junction Road in St Andrew and St Mary affected by landslide now open to single-lane traffic

The National Works Agency (NWA) is reporting that the Junction Road in St Andrew and St Mary that was last night rendered impassable due to a massive landslide has been reopened to facilitate single-lane traffic.

The NWA says the road was blocked at Brandon Hill in St Andrew.

Communications Manager at the NWA, Stephen Shaw says the landslides were also affecting the corridor in the communities of Devon Pen and Friendship Gap in St Mary.

He says the road was last night reduced to single lane in both communities.

Shaw says persons travelling through the Junction at this time should exercise extreme caution, especially in the area referred to as Money Corner.

It is reported that continuous rainfall over the last week has made the embankments unstable.

The NWA says this therefore creates a risk of rocks falling onto the roadway or further land slippages.
