Police urge calm amid voice notes threatening violence in Spanish Town

The Police High Command is urging the public to remain calm amid the circulation of a voice note threatening violence in Spanish Town, St Catherine since the arrest of Andre Bryan, otherwise called 'Blackman'.

Bryan had been named as a wanted man.

In a statement Friday afternoon, the High Command said the information is being analysed and an assessment is being made on its authenticity.

In the meantime, the police say they are maintaining a strong presence in Spanish Town in order to restore law and order.

"Additionally, we are asking residents of the affected communities to be aware and to share with us information about any illegal or suspicious activities happening in their area," said a police spokesperson in the statement.

The police say this will help with their investigations into the current situation plaguing the St. Catherine North Division.
