JPS submits report on islandwide power outage to OUR
The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) Company has now submitted to the Office Of Utilities Regulation (OUR) a report with additional information on the islandwide power outage that happened in August.
On September 28, the JPS submitted to the OUR a detailed report on the islandwide blackout in keeping with regulations which demand that the electricity provider issue a report to the oversight body within 30 days of the date of restoration of power.
That report confirmed that a procedural error caused a total system blackout on JPS' transmission system.
The OUR gave JPS until yesterday to provide additional information on the blackout.
JPS CEO Kelly Tomblin says the report explains the problems at an electricity plant which caused blackouts like the one in August.
