Sixty-two-year-old medical doctor Soe Win has been freed of charges of conspiracy to commit abortion and administering a substance to procure abortion on a 14-year-old girl.

It was alleged that the offence took place earlier this year.

When the matter came before the Morant Bay Parish Court yesterday attorney at law Hensley Williams submitted that his client was not pointed out in an identification parade involving the complainant.

Williams further argued that there was no scientific evidence before the court.

He noted that there was no sample of the alleged substance or any results of any test or analysis.

The judge upheld the submissions and freed Dr Win.

Meanwhile, the court ruled that the man who is accused of impregnating the teenage girl should stand trial later this month.

The accused is charged with having sex with a girl under the age of 16 and attempting to procure abortion.
