Bail extended for Trelawny cops charged in connection with death of inmate in custody

The five policemen charged in connection with the death of mentally ill inmate, Kamoza Clarke, are to return to the Trelawny Parish Court on December 1.

When the matter was called up yesterday one of the defence attorneys asked for time to review files submitted by the prosecution.

District Constables Derrick Henry, Alwayne Eccleston and Brown Onecko are charged with murder.

They will undergo committal proceedings when the matter returns to court on December 1.

Meanwhile, District Constables Desmond Lawrence and Tristan Turner are charged with neglect.

The five policemen were charged after an attack on Clarke, who was badly beaten while in custody at the Falmouth Police Station on October 20, 2013.

Clarke, fell unconscious and was in a vegetative state before he died in hospital in February 2014.
