Debates Commission fine-tuning plans ahead of parish council polls
The deputy chairman of the Jamaica Debates Commission, Brian Schmidt, says the commission is fine-tuning plans for the local government debates between the two main political parties.
Schmidt told The Gleaner that on Monday, the commission will announce the format and timelines for the debates.
Earlier this week, the Debates Commission announced that the Jamaica Labour Party and the People's National Party have agreed to participate in two nationally televised debates.
The parties agreed that the two debates would involve three-member teams of members of the Houses of Parliament and local government candidates.
Each debate will be for 90 minutes and will also comprise a moderator and a panel of journalists.
