Gov't to sign Growth Council declaration of intent today
The Government is expected today to sign a declaration of intent to implement initiatives and policies put forward by the Economic Growth Council.
Various business groups are also expected to co-sign the document set for 7 o’ clock this evening.
Speaking on Real Business on Power 106 FM this morning the council’s Deputy Chairman, Dr. Nigel Clarke, said the symbolic the signing ceremony will signal the commitment of the government.
Clarke said the recommendations put forward by the Growth Council will help to put Jamaica on the right path to accelerated economic growth.
The Growth Council, which was launched in April, submitted its recommendations to the Cabinet in September.
Among the eight recommendations are maintaining macro-economic stability and debt reduction, improving access to finance, improving citizen security and stimulating greater asset utilisation.
