As Jamaica and the rest of the world wait to know who will be the next president of the United States, American Ambassador to Jamaica Luis G Moreno has described the elections as "incredibly unique."

Moreno is among diplomats, civic and business leaders at an election watch party now on at the Digicel headquarters in downtown Kingston.

"At the end the United States could have its first female president," said Moreno, explaining why the elections are so unique.

At the same time, Moreno said Americans could elect the "consummate outsider" who has never been a government official or member of the military.

The election watch party is being hosted by the US Embassy and the 51 percent Coalition.

The British High Commissioner to Jamaica David Fitton and the Canadian High Commissioner to Jamaica Sylvain Fabi are among the dignitaries gathered to watch the results as the US presidential election results are tallied.
