As local government candidates prepare for Nomination Day activities today, a National Day of Prayer for all children is being observed in schools across the island.

The ministry says all schools that are not being used as polling stations should hold a special morning devotion between 7 and 9 o'clock in the morning and from noon to 2 p.m. for schools on the shift system.

The education ministry says the focus will be on praying for peace in the education system and for the protection of children, teachers and administrative and support staff.

The ministry is asking Jamaicans to wear blue to show their support.
