Nine students from Tacky High School in St Mary were rushed to the Gayle Health Centre this morning after they collapsed during a special devotion marking National Day of Prayer.

Initially, three girls blacked out and soon after, six others collapsed, all showing signs of breathing difficulties.

"Students started dropping," said principal Errol Bascoe.

"I am not particularly sure of what really happened."

He said the affected students were from grades nine, ten and 11.

Bascoe says some of the students were taken to the clinic by staff members where a doctor confirmed that two of them were asthmatic.
