The Electoral Office of Jamaica is reporting that Nomination Day activities have been incident-free so far.

The elections are now underway in electoral divisions across the island.

Prospective candidates are being nominated to run in the November 28 parish council elections in 228 divisions.

The Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) had said its systems are fully prepared to receive the nominations of candidates.

The activities got underway at 10 o’clock this morning and will close at 2 o’clock this afternoon.

In addition for the nomination of councillors for the 228 electoral divisions, there will also be the nomination for the Mayor of the Municipality of Portmore.

Both the People’s National Party (PNP) and the Jamaica Labour Party are expected to nominate a full slate of candidates across all the divisions.

At present, the PNP controls all 13 Municipal Corporations, in addition to the Portmore Municipality.
