An employee of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) and her son have been arrested by detectives from the Centre for the Investigations of Sexual Offenses and Child Abuse (CISOCA).

The police say the woman was taken into custody on suspicion of cruelty to a child and procuring an abortion.

She and her son are to undergo a question and answer session with their lawyer after which formal charges will be laid.

According to the police, the woman’s son was sexually involved with a 14-year-old girl who became pregnant.

The son allegedly told his mother about the pregnancy and she in turn gave the teen girl a pill, which she took aborting the baby.

The police say the 14-year-old was taken to hospital where she was admitted and the police notified.

The mother and son were subsequently arrested.
