NWA teams on full alert in parishes affected by heavy rains
The National Works Agency (NWA) says its teams in Portland, St Ann, St Mary and St Thomas are on full alert to respond to issues arising from the rains in these parishes.
NWA Communication Manager, Stephen Shaw, says in addition to Portland, flooding has also been reported in St Thomas.
He says the Hopewell and Orange Bay communities in Portland have experienced some amount of flooding, while in St Thomas sections of the main road between Morant Bay and Port Morant were impacted.
The road through Port Morant was impassable yesterday evening.
Road users are being reminded to exercise extreme caution while using some corridors in these North-eastern parishes, as there is the likelihood of flooding, landslides and fallen rocks.
Motorists should pay particular attention to the roads in Junction, St Mary, Buff Bay and the Rio Grande Valley in Portland and In St Thomas the stretch from Bath to Hordley.
