West Kingston gangs offer big bucks to kill police

The Police High Command says criminals aligned to major gangs in west Kingston are offering rewards of between J$100,000 and J$1 million for the death of police personnel.

The high command of the police says gangsters are also using the Internet to make death threats against members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).

The disclosures came yesterday as the leadership of the JCF issued a reminder to rank and file members that the threat level against them has been raised to extreme.

This means that attacks against police personnel are highly probable and likely to occur.

The Police High Command says criminals have threatened the lives of police personnel who are preventing gang members from invading Denham Town and Tivoli Gardens.

As a result, it is urging police personnel, especially those who live and work in the Kingston Western Division and the Corporate Area, to increase their vigilance on and off duty.

It also urged them to take the necessary precautions to protect themselves and their families.
