JCF ready for local gov't election

The police say they are prepared for the local government polls on Monday.

Acting head of the JCF Operations Branch, Acting Assistant Commissioner, Calvin Allen, says the police and the Electoral Office of Jamaica have formulated security measures to ensure a free and safe election.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday, Allen said divisional commanders continue to work closely with returning officers and other relevant personnel.

Meanwhile, the acting ACP Allen disclosed that 589 weapons have been seized since January under the police’s Get the Guns campaign

Allen further indicated that over 8,000 rounds of ammunition have also been recovered and appealed to persons to report illegal guns.
