JLP cancels membership of 'independent' candidates

The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is distancing itself from four former members who are seeking election in the local government polls as independent candidates.

The JLP says Answerd Ramcharan, Donna Malahoo-Bowen, Keith Donaldson and Albert Lee do not represent the party nor are they members.

According to General Secretary, Dr Horace Chang any member of the JLP who was nominated without the party's approval is no longer member of the party.

He said the four independent candidates should not be considered to be working in the interest of the party.
