A St Catherine man who allegedly threw his ex-girlfriend into a canal with water after beating her mercilessly pleaded guilty when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court yesterday.

Thirty-year-old taxi driver Kajeel Harvey of Dunbeholden in St Catherine is to return to court on February 20 when he is expected to be sentenced.

Allegations are that on June 28 the accused lured his ex-girlfriend to his house and attempted to get her inside.

When the woman refused and insisted that she wanted to leave, Harvey became angry and dragged her to the back of the house where he threw her to the ground.

He then punched her all over her body and dragged her to a nearby canal and threw her into the water.

The woman reportedly screamed and begged Harvey for mercy throughout the ordeal.

She was rescued by neighbours.

The matter was reported to the Portmore police and an investigation launched.

However, Harvey eluded the police until he was finally held in early November.
