Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown says the delinquents are in the parishes of St Catherine, St Ann and St Andrew.

Political Ombudsman Donna Parchment Brown says she will be publishing a list of candidates who have signed the political code of conduct.

A total of 489 candidates have been nominated to contest Monday’s local government election but several of them have not signed the code.

Parchment Brown says the delinquents are in the parishes of St Catherine, St Ann and St Andrew.

While there is no sanction for not signing the code, the political ombudsman says voters can use the list of signatories to assess a candidate's character and commitment to good conduct.

Parchment Brown, who was speaking in an interview on Independent Talk on Power 106 this morning, said she expects to publish the list this week.

Some People’s National Party candidates have refused to sign the political code in protest over the government’s $600 million bushing programme, accusing the governing Jamaica Labour Party of using the programme to influence voters.

The political ombudsman has written to JLP leader Andrew Holness regarding the matter.
