Acting principal Carey Kelly says classes were dismissed about 10:30 a.m as most of the students have to travel through flood-prone areas.

Classes at the St Thomas Technical High School were dismissed earlier than usual today as administrators feared heavy rains would cause flooding and prevent some students from getting back home.

Acting principal Carey Kelly says classes were dismissed about 10:30 a.m as most of the students have to travel through flood-prone areas.

Sections of the Golden Grove and Port Morant main roads were flooded.

Up to news time, the Port Morant main road remained flooded at an area known as Cotton Tree.

However, motorists were still using the roadway.
